of the huge 215 car field on Friday evening. When activities commenced on
Saturday Kid Rocket started on the pole of the second heat where he
eventually finished a strong second. Starting eighth in the 35th Annual
World 100 Kid Rocket had a harrowing few moments on the opening pace lap
when he inadvertently ran over a control arm that was on the track surface
from a prior mishap. Kid Rocket pitted for a new tire and was able to rejoin
the field in his original starting position.
When the green flag dropped Kid Rocket amazed the crowd with an aggressive
and smooth run working his way up to fifth when on lap nine the car slowed
when the driveshaft malfunctioned due to being damaged previously by the
track debris. Although it was a heartbreaking end to his first World 100
drive the 17-year-old still let those in attendance that he was there.
