Shinnston, WV --- Josh ‘Kid Rocket’
Richards started last Friday night off by setting second quick time behind
the wheel of the Mark Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace
Metal Works, MCB Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett
Engines Grand Prix, at the World of Outlaws Late Model Series ‘Summer
Showdown in Sarver Town 50’ at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA.. Josh
would go on to lead every lap of the second heat race transferring him into
the dash where he would finish in forth putting him in the forth starting
position for tonight’s $10,000.00 to win race just 2 hours from home.
Josh would run tonight’s event running at times 2 to 3 wide on the fast
slick track with a cushion that the Lernerville track provided. Then on lap
24 while running 3 wide with Josh on the top and Tim McCreadie in the middle
and a lap car on the bottom the Kid Rocket who’s Rocket Chassis House Car
hopped the turn-three cushion and then barrel-rolled twice off the track
surface. “We were racing hard,” said Richards, who was in a battle for fifth
with McCreadie at the time. “I didn’t realize the cushion was that far out
there, and my right rear just got over it. Once it got over it, it just
started flipping.
“It got up in the air, and I was like, Holy cow, I can’t believe I’m
flipping!” Richards, who experienced the first roll-over of his young racing
career, Josh wasn’t injured. He said his car, which he debuted on July 8 at
Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, didn’t appear to be seriously damaged,
but it was stripped down on Saturday so its frame could be checked Monday
morning on a Rocket jig.
Further inspection at Rocket Chassis on Monday Mark Richards stated “We put
the car in the jig and found absolutely nothing wrong with the chassis, we
could of raced it at Hagerstown on Saturday but I just wanted to make sure
everything was ok”
On Saturday August 5th Kid Rocket was right back at the wheel of his Mark
Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB
Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett Engines Grand
Prix, at the World of Outlaws Late Model Series at the Conococheague 50 at
Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD... Josh would qualify in twentieth
position out of 47 registered drivers in his back up car for the event. Josh
would finish the 4th heat race in the 5th position and end up 1 spot short
of transferring in to the main event and now had to run the second B-Main to
get into the Conococheague 50. Josh lined up on the pole for the b-main and
led every lap and transferring into the Conococheague 50 paying $10,000.00
to win. Kid Rocket now lined up in the seventeenth position and worked his
way up to a seventh place finish behind 1. Clint Smith 2. Darrell Lanigan 3.
Chub Frank 4. Shane Clanton 5. Dale McDowell and Steve Francis passing the
most cars in tonight’s event. |
