Shinnston, WV --- Josh ‘Kid Rocket’
Richards spent Sunday night July 23 having some fun in Legends Cars En Route
To World of Outlaws Late Model Series Midwest Swing, Josh found a perfect
way to break up their trips to this week’s World of Outlaws Late Model
Series action in the Midwest. After competing in Saturday night’s WoO LMS
Veterans Appreciation Weekend finale at Jim Nier’s K-C Raceway in
Chillicothe, Ohio, Josh accepted an offer to run Legends Cars on Sunday
night at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway. They competed in a KOIL Tour event at
the well-known quarter-mile dirt oval.
Josh set fast time in qualifying behind the wheel of a machine owned by Greg
Hewald of Hebron, Ky., Josh was slowed by a flat tire during his heat
action, relegating him to ninth-row starting spot in the 15-lap, 20-car
feature. He proceeded to drive straight to the top five, but just couldn’t
finish there Josh was forced to the pit area with a flat tire, and then
returned to finish seventh.
Josh and the team then pulled out of Lawrenceburg, IN. Monday morning and
headed for Lebanon, MO for the ‘Missouri 50’ at Lebanon I-44 Speedway, where
Kid Rocket timed in twelfth fastest out of 31 registered cars. Josh finished
second in the third heat race right behind Shane Clanton. He went on to
finish sixth in the main event behind Brian Birkhoffer, Dale McDowell, Earl
Pearson, Jimmy Mars and Billy Moyer after starting in the 4th position.
Now they move on to Farmer City Raceway on Wednesday Night July 26th in
Farmer City, IL. Shortly after they arrived at Farmer City and got
everything unloaded and hot laps started, thunderstorms struck following hot
laps forcing the postponement of Wednesday night’s World of Outlaws Late
Model Series event at Farmer City Raceway – the second time this season that
the tour made an unsuccessful attempt to race at the quarter-mile
fairgrounds oval. They announced that Wednesday’s Farmer City 50 has been
rescheduled for Mon., Aug. 14.
So now the series, Josh and his Mark Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf
Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket
Chassis, Cornett Engines Grand Prix team move north for Friday and Saturdays
‘Heartland Nationals’ race at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN on
July, 28th and 29th where Kid Rocket timed in thirteenth fastest out of
thirty three cars and finished third in his heat race. He then went on to
finish fifth in the main event after starting in the 9th position.
