‘Kid Rocket’ Richards of Shinnston, WV traveled to Kentucky and Tennessee
for a pair of World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series races and then
capped the weekend off back in his home state of West Virginia for a Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series event. Richards competed all weekend in his Mark
Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB
Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett Engines Grand
Prix.
On Friday Kid Rocket competed with the World Of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late
Model Series to Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway-Calvert City, KY for the
“Wildcat Fall Fling 50" where after qualifying 27th in time trials Kid
Rocket finished third in his heat race and 11th in the main event.
The following night the team traveled to Clarksville Racing Complex in
Clarksville, TN for the Clarksville Clash Volunteer 50” where he scored an
eighth place finish in his heat after mechanical troubles and used a
provisional for the main even where after starting 23rd Kid Rocket finished
12th.
On Sunday Night at the West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV the
team participated in the "Legends of the Fall 50" sanctioned by the Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Kid Rocket finished third in his heat race
making the main event where he crossed the checkers in eighth place.
Kid Rocket is the latest dirt Late Model driver to commit to being a
celebrity waiter at this year’s Knoxville L.M. Celebrity Waiter Dinner &
Auction on Saturday, October 1, at the National Sprint Car Museum. Kid
Rocket is pre-entered in the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals,
September 29-30-October 1, at the Knoxville Raceway.
Besides Kid Rocket other celebrity waiters include Justin Allgaier, Scott
James, Brady Smith, Chris Smyser, Chub Frank, John Duty, Billy Moyer, Jeep
Van Wormer, Steve Francis, Tim McCreadie and Donnie Moran. The Knoxville
Late Model Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction takes place on the National
Sprint Car Museum’s air-conditioned second floor on Saturday afternoon,
October 1, from 12 Noon until 2:30 p.m. The $15 tickets must be purchased in
advance, and can be reserved by calling the museum toll-free at
1-800-874-4488. The dinner is being catered by Hy-Vee Food Stores, with
dessert provided by Stephanie Johnson Desserts. Following the meal, Lynn
Richard and his family from Mount Pleasant will conduct a live auction of
unique, autographed stock car racing memorabilia and souvenirs.
