‘Kid Rocket’ Richards of Shinnston, WV returned to the Midwest this past
weekend for a trio of races with the World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model
Series with on event being rained out. Richards competed all weekend in his
Mark Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB
Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett Engines Grand
Prix.
Inclement weather in the St. Louis, MO area forced officials of Tri-City
Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL and World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model
Series officials to cancel the $10,000 to win “Coldwell Banker/Gundaker –
Miller Lite Nationals 50” Friday evening. It is unclear whether the event
will be rescheduled. Several inches of rain fell on the speedway grounds
Thursday and early Friday morning and despite a herculean effort track
officials were not able to get the ˝ mile speedway into a safe, raceable
condition resulting in the cancellation.
The following night the World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series
sanctioned “Pepsi Nationals 55” Saturday at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, MO was
held where Kid Rocket qualified 25th fastest in time trials and finished
sixth in his heat race with a third in first B Main. When the checkers waved
in the main event he finished 14th.
On Sunday Kid Rocket traveled to the $12,000 to win “14th Annual Best
Western Illinois Fall Nationals 30” at the one mile Illinois State
Fairgrounds in Springfield, IL for the first time where he qualified second
fastest and then won the second heat before finishing fourth in the main
event.
Up next for Kid Rocket and team will be two World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late
Model Series sanctioned events this weekend including the "Wildcat Fall
Fling 50" on Friday September 23 at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert
City, KY followed the next night with the "Clarksville Clash Volunteer 50"
on Saturday September 24 at Clarksville Racing Complex in Clarksville, TN. |
