Shinnston, WV --- Josh ‘Kid Rocket’ Richards ventured west to the historic Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA for the 3rd Annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals this past weekend where he made the main event over a stout field of national competitors. Kid Rocket was competing in his Mark Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett Engines Grand Prix.

Kid Rocket entered the 3rd Annual Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals main event starting in the 11th starting slot and impressively made his way up to the third place position but he jumped the cushion and got the right rear into the wall and developed a vibration and retired for the night on lap 89.

During the Thursday evening time trials Kid Rocket timed in 14th fastest among the 61 car field. During heat race action Kid Rocket won his heat race and finished eighth in the preliminary night main event. For Friday night’s program Kid Rocket timed in 22nd quick and finished fourth in his heat race and a 15th in the preliminary main event.

Joining Kid Rocket for the weekend was teammate Tony Stewart, the two-time NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion who came from 17th to finish second in a Rocket car fielded by Mark Richards Racing and Rocket Chassis and sponsored by the Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats. Stewart flew back to Kansas City, Kansas right after Knoxville where he went on to win the Nextel Cup sanctioned Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway.

Kid Rocket also signed-up to wait tables at the Knoxville Late Model Celebrity Waiter Dinner & Auction on Saturday, September 30. The annual fund-raising event, which is held in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals, benefits the host National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville and, to a lesser degree, the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in Florence, Kentucky.

Up next for Kid Rocket is the return to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series tour on Sun., Oct. 8, with the running of the postponed Pittsburgher 100 at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pa.
