Shinnston, WV --- Josh ‘Kid Rocket’ Richards headed to the northeast this past weekend for World of Outlaws Late Model Series competition competing in his Mark Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett Engines Grand Prix.

On Saturday evening Kid Rocket headed for Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH for the WoO LMS sanctioned Buckeye 50. Qualifying seventh fastest in time trials Kid Rocket won his heat race and finished fourth in the dash. In the Buckeye 50 main event Kid Rocket was on fire and after passing Darrell Lanigan for second kept within striking distance of the lead all through the race until three to go when Chub Frank got by him for second.

Kid Rocket’s run came in his backup car as his primary car was sidelined by a dropped engine valve as scored a heat-race victory. “I think we had a second-place car,” said Richards, who drove a one-year-old machine that had never been raced prior to Saturday night. “But on the last restart my Dad (Rocket co-owner Mark Richards) told me to move down (by hand signals) because that’s where I was better, and Chub had a little softer tire and was able to get me on the outside.

“We’re happy with third. I needed a good run to get my confidence back, because when you’re running bad, it can break you down.”

On Sunday Kid Rocket went to Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway for the unsanctioned Penn National 50 where he suffered a flat in the heat and was running strong in the feature until another flat occurred and he was forced to dropped out with a DNF.
