‘Kid Rocket’ Richards of Shinnston, WV made his way out to Iowa this past
week for the running of the 2nd Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville
Nationals at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA. Richards competed
all weekend in his Mark Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace
Metal Works, MCB Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett
Engines Grand Prix.
During qualifying Kid Rocket timed in an extremely impressive third quick
with a time of 18.244. Slated to run the Friday night portion of the three
day event Kid Rocket scored a second place finish in his heat race and
fourth in the Friday night feature putting him in the Saturday night main
event where Kid Rocket finished 12th in the 100-lap Lucas Oil Late Model
Knoxville Nationals.
During his time at Knoxville Kid Rocket also participated in being a
celebrity waiter at this year’s Knoxville L.M. Celebrity Waiter Dinner &
Auction that was held on Saturday, October 1, at the National Sprint Car
Museum.
Also during his stay at Knoxville Kid Rocket participated in the golf
tournament and played with Steve Francis where they finished third.
Up next for Kid Rocket will be the UMP Fall Nationals at Eldora Speedway
this weekend followed by the unsanctioned 25th Anniversary Dirt Track World
Championship presented by Arizona Sport Shirts that will be held on October
13-15 at KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH where $50,000 awaits the winner of
the race.
