‘Kid Rocket’ Ends Season With Top Ten WoO LMS Finish

Shinnston, WV --- Josh ‘Kid Rocket’ Richards, the 16-year-old dirt Late Model phenom from Shinnston, WV, ended his 2004 racing season on a high note by finishing seventh in the season-ending World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoO LMS) sanctioned Trick or Treat Classic two-day event at Delta Bowl Speedway in Tunica, MS. Richards will now spend his time concentrating on school and preparing for the 2005 racing season. ‘Kid Rocket’ also attended the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Awards Banquet on Sunday evening with his parents, Mark & Tina Richards.

On Friday evening October 29 Richards finished third in his B Main and 17th in the main event. On Saturday night for the season-ending WoO LMS on October 30 Richards, after having an exciting battle earlier in the race with Dale McDowell for fifth and subsequently being pinned by a lapped car, finished an impressive seventh in the feature event once the checkers waved.

“The car good, real good,” commented ‘Kid Rocket’. “We could have had the car to win tonight. I’m real happy with how everything worked out. I’m looking forward to next season.”

Richards plans on racing next season. After one start in 2003, Josh Richards started his racing career in earnest this year and in addition to attending weekly and independent events at a variety of tracks, he also participated in a majority of the season with the WoO LMS.

“Officials from Dirt Motorsports told us they were very impressed with Josh’s performance this year and would like him to run for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Rookie of the Year title next season,” revealed Mark Richards, Josh’s father and the owner of Mark Richards Racing. “We’d like to do it, but we’ll have to get out there and find some additional sponsorship funding to take Josh on the road full time.”

The 16-year-old High School junior ‘Kid Rocket’ drives the Mark Richards Racing owned Rocket Chassis/Cornett Engines #1 sponsored by Seubert Calf Ranches, Imler’s Poultry, MCB Motorsports and Rocket Chassis. Richards is also a teammate to Rocket Chassis ‘house car’ driver Bart Hartman.

Kid Rocket and the team are also extremely pleased with the tremendous response this weekend from fans who have been ordering the newly released 1/24th scale ADC diecast replica of ‘Kid Rocket’s #1.
